My name is David Hensley, and I serve as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional with offices in Spencer and Linton.

I grew up in Linton and graduated from Linton-Stockton schools.  I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Oakland City University in 1974.  I completed a Master’s degree (MA) from Trinity Seminary in 1999 and earned a Certificate in Mediation from Indiana State University in 2000.  Because I wanted to be able to teach part-time at the university level, I completed a Master’s in Management (MSM) degree in 2002.

After completing my Bachelor’s degree, I lived and worked in Indianapolis for 2 years as a management trainee for a national insurance company.  In 1976 I purchased an insurance agency Linton and served the people of Greene County for 27 years, selling the agency in 2002.  During this time I also purchased a Century 21 real estate franchise and completed the required licensing for a Certified Residential Appraiser.

I became very interested in assisting my insurance clients with their questions regarding overall finances and more specifically investments and retirement.  In order to focus solely on financial planning, in 2002 I began the study for completion of the Certified Financial Planner™ designation.  This consisted of five in-depth classes on such topics as insurance, taxes, investments, retirement planning and estate planning.  Each class was followed by a comprehensive exam.  At the completion of the five classes I successfully passed a 2-day exam covering all aspects of financial planning.

While I derive a great deal of pleasure assisting families become good stewards of their money, my real joy is my family.  My wife Claudia and I were married in 1975 and have been blessed with three terrific children, Matt, Jon and Sarah.  We have had some great years of band concerts, vocal contests, basketball, volleyball, and tennis.
